HAPPY NEW YEAR!
I spent New Year’s Day with family up north (we only see them twice a year) and played a mean Scrabble game (I lost — what kind of writer am I??), so I’m here now with my 2020 goals.
finish a query-able draft of The Fallen Star
take up space photography
leave my house more often
go to Disney World by myself
learn something new
get another tattoo
read more books
spend less money/save more money
drink more water
exercise???
and most of all, be myself, entirely
My loftiness goal here is to finish a draft of The Fallen Star that I am confident enough with to query. The latter half of last year was tumultuous for my writing, but taking time away from it helped me understand it better, and where it needs to go. Other than that, most of these are easy enough to accomplish, but knowing myself, I lack the “just do it” initiative (that’s why there are a lot of questions marks beside exercise. I mean, who wants to do that? Not me).
The beginning of a new decade feels bigger, somehow, than the changing of any other year. I want this to be the year I change for the better. I want to be wholly myself, and not hold anything back. I want to learn who I am. I want to find something to aspire to, to believe in. I want to make friends and keep them. I want to find something in me that isn’t in anyone else, that I didn’t take from anyone else. I want to document life more. I want to experience life more.
I look forward to the year, and decade, ahead. But, most of all, I look forward to knowing the girl on the other end. I hope she’s nice.
What are some of your goals this year? Let me know!
As always,
