My Favourite Authortubers

Author + YouTube = Authortube! Authors on YouTube share a wealth of knowledge every day about the craft - from writing to publishing to querying and beyond. It has become one of my favourite sources for craft-related information, and I try to watch at least one video a day - if not, at least a few times a week. It's so easy to absorb bite-sized chunks of information in 20-30 minute videos instead of hours-long lectures. A lot of the information is similar from video to video, but each author puts their own spin on it to make it unique. Besides, not every piece of advice works the same for everyone, right? Below is a list of my favourite Authortubers who I've been watching for some time now.

Briana Morgan

Briana's videos were the first ones I found when I delved into Authortube, and I even went back and watched her whole catalogue, even videos that were years old but still relevant. Through Briana's videos I found more and more channels to watch. She doesn't post as often (I mean, can we blame her? There's a pandemic going on after all) but she is still offering a variety of services on her site to help authors grow their platform and their craft. Check her out!

Jenna Moreci

Jenna is one of those household names in the Authortube community, and with a platform of over 209 THOUSAND subscribers, it's no wonder. She is so unique, knowledgable, and authentic on her platform. I love anticipating the first "Hellooooooooo everybody" in her videos. Plus, she has the (cutest) best writer companion dog on the face of the earth.

Hannah Lee Kidder

Possibly one of the funniest Authortubers I've watched, but very relatable and authentic. Hannah specializes in short fiction and has a wealth of knowledge to prove she knows what she's talking about. Plus, her channel is full of everyday stuff as well - a little peek behind the curtain.

Alexa Donne

Alexa's videos are super insightful and updated a few times a week, which means MORE content ALL the time. She has amazing videos on all stages of the writing process, including how to get an agent and the steps to traditional publishing, if that's the route you want to take.

Brittany Wang

Brittany doesn't just do YouTube videos about writing. She's also a huge advocate for building your author platform, whether that's on YouTube, Twitter, or a website. Her author website bootcamp has helped me tremendously in the past few weeks, and she is super engaged with everyone who signs up for it. I highly recommend checking out her free videos or signing up for the bootcamp if you want to grow your platform RIGHT NOW.

Rachael Stephen

Rachael hosts the Story Magic Academy to help writers "unstick" their novels. Her videos on the plot embryo method of writing provide a deeper understanding of the emotional and psychological aspects of the hero's journey. Plus, her videos on witchcraft surprisingly opened many new doors for me.

So, there you have it. A few of my favourite Authortubers. Who are some of your favourites? Comment down below! As always, happy writing!
